It Is Well With My Soul

Last night, the bands of Bristol Tennessee City Schools hosted their annual Winter Concert. The Elementary Band (5th and 6th grades) started off the evening, followed by the Junior Viking Band (7th and 8th grades). The Mighty Viking Band (high school) concluded the evening with a fabulous performance.

Under the direction of Mr. David Semones, the Mighty Viking Band played “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss”, which is an arrangement of the beloved hymn “It Is Well With My Soul”. The song was dedicated in memory of Blake Looney and Colton Taylor, and in honor of Charlie Arnie, the three band members who were in a tragic automobile accident on November 1 of this year. The band did a tremendous job on the song and received a standing ovation

Below is a video of the performance, including Mr. Semones’ introductory remarks. (I’m sorry the video is shaky, but it was filmed on my iPhone. At least the audio is good.)

FYI:  If you’re looking for Sam in the video, he is in the center of the back row, playing the tuba.

Here is a close-up of Sam and his tuba. It’s not very clear because my iPhone doesn’t have great zoom.
