My Latest Pet Project

EdmundI’ve written here before about my friend Edmund and his incredible product, the All-Weather Firestarter. Now, I’m happy to share with you, my readers, an opportunity to not only own one of these fantastic tools but to also help a great guy take his business to the next level.

Edmund has started a campaign on Indiegogo, a crowdfunding site, and he his hoping to be able to raise the funds to buy the necessary machinery to increase his manufacturing capabilities tenfold. With internet sales booming, production needs to be able to keep up with the demand.

Please check out his campaign by clicking here and be as generous as you can. In my opinion the All-Weather Firestarter is absolutely the best one on the market, so you owe it to yourself to check it out. Everyone who participates in outdoor activities (hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, etc) needs one of these. BUT, so does anyone who uses a gas or charcoal grill, firepit, fireplace, or burn barrell. AND, it’s a necessity for survivalists and preppers. They also make great gifts for the man who has everything.

If you’re still not convinced, watch the video below, then click here to go to the Indiegogo campaign.

Month of Thanksgiving: Days Twelve, Thirteen, and Fourteen

Day Twelve:

2015-11-13 11.57.21Well, I’m far behind in my Thanksgiving posts. That’s because I’ve been extremely busy, and I’ve only just now gotten the chance to get caught up.

On Nov 12, I was thankful for coffee. You may remember my previous post about how I was going to go without coffee for the whole month of November (#NoCoffeeNovember). I think I did great going eleven days without it, and I don’t feel the least bit guilty about drinking some on the 12th, 13th, and 14th! On Thursday, the 12th, I had to drive over four hours after getting only one hour of sleep the night before. Since I wanted to get to my destination alive, I chose to resume my coffee drinking. I had a large pumpkin iced latte from Dunkin’ Donuts. On each of the next two days, I had a large pumpkin iced macchiato, also from DD, which is pictured on the left.

Day Thirteen:

2002-12-26 23.56.43The destination of my trip on the 12th was Raleigh, NC, which brings me to the object of my thankfulness for the 13th. I went to Raleigh to do some administrative work, which was easier done on-site rather than remotely, for my friend Edmund’s business, All-Weather Firestarters. (Edmund and I have been friends for over 25 years. This picture of us was taken at Christmas, 2002, at my parents’ home in McAllen, TX.) I am thankful for Edmund and his business sense, inovative ideas, huge heart, and dedication to God.

Day Fourteen:

2015-11-14 15.21.51Today, I am thankful for spontaneous mini-adventures. There is a place I have been wanting to visit ever since I was told about it over 15 years ago. Since Sam has never shown any interest in going, I never went there until today, even though it is less than three hours away. Today, while Sam was gone all day to defensive driving school, I took the opportunity to drive to Mt. Mitchell State Park in North Carolina. It’s right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, where you can see some incredible scenic views. Much of the drive was curvy and mountainous, but I love those kinds of trips. (I just wish I could have been driving Sam’s 5-speed Civic rather than my automatic Accord.) For those of you unfamiliar with Mt. Mitchell, it is the highest US peak east of the Mississippi. It was an exhilarating trip, though I wish I had taken it two or three weeks ago, during the peak of fall color.

Allweather Firestarters

EdmundI have a friend named Edmund who is an amazing inventor. Whenever I talk to him, I get excited about all the wonderful ideas he has for both new inventions and improvements on existing products.

At the end of this post is a video of Edmund demonstrating his firestarters, which he makes and sells at gun shows and other such venues. While the firestarter is not his original invention, he has some incredible ideas for improvement. Now, he is looking for investors so that he can bring his ideas to fruition.

I’m trying to help him make this video go viral so he can get the attention he needs and deserves. If you would like to help also (and, I expect that my readers will want to help!), please click here to go directly to Edmund’s video on YouTube where your views will count.
